Today we had only a relatively short trip to Belmont in the NSW Hunter Region where we were attending the annual Christmas muster for our branch of the Australian Caravan Club.
As we had done on our previous trip, we started to pack the caravan well before our departure date and that resulted in a relatively stress-free departure from our home at 9:30am.
Deciding that we would minimise our exposure to the Sydney traffic, a decision was made to use the M2 motorway from North Ryde to Pennant Hills Road and then the tunnel that linked the M2 with the Pacific Motorway. Fortunately, our car and caravan combination fall short in both length and height to be registered as a large vehicle for the purpose of the charging of tolls.
The trip north was uneventful, and we arrived at our destination at 11:10am. We checked into the caravan and asked for assistance to place the caravan on our site as the roads are very narrow and tight. Our site has a fire hydrant on the boundary and that could come into place if one was not careful. With the assistance of the staff member, we were quickly on our site. We combined meeting other members of our branch with the setup so just short of two hours after arriving, we were fully setup. Today we also decided to extend our annexe and hopefully it will keep us dry from the forecast rain showers.
Curried egg sandwiches for lunch followed by a quick trip into Belmont for bread and milk and several beverages for happy hour.
We have exclusive use of a room at the caravan park and that room was the site of our happy hour. As the afternoon progressed, we renewed our friendship with all the branch members, and it was great to see the support for this muster.
Just before we decided to return to the caravan for our evening meal, it started to rain, not heavy, but enough to wet the ground. Our awning has provided some relieve from the rain and we can only hope that the wind stays away, and we can leave the awning out.
We had chicken and salad for our evening meal.
We watched television until just before 10:00pm and then headed to bed with the sound of light rain on the roof of the caravan. The night was hot, and we left a fan running set with a timer to turn off in a couple of hours.
