We had several bursts of heavy rain during the night. We did not set an alarm, and “He” woke at 7:45am when nature decided it was time to get up.
“He” checked the refrigerator in the rear of the Navara and noted the refrigerator was off. Once the power was connected, the temperature display on the refrigerator said “8” so the refrigerator had not been long without power. The battery was sitting at 1%. This gives us an insight into the battery driving the refrigerator for our upcoming trip. When we free camp, we need to supplement the battery power with a solar panel, and it looks like we need to take our second battery to ensure the refrigerator runs continually. There would have been an effect on the refrigerator which is housed in the rear cargo area of the Navara which has been exposed to the sun and high temperatures with that part of the car closed during the day.
One of our two camping chairs was soaked with water, and we have no idea how the rainwater found its way there.
We spent most of the remainder of the morning talking to friends about our May trip. From the discussion we learnt that Paronella Park is not at Cairns but to the south of Innisfail. This news resulted in changes being made to our proposed itinerary that we will have to share with other members of our travelling group.
We purchased lunch from the café at the caravan park which was very nice. “He” had a steak sandwich, and “She” had a melt.
We had a quiet afternoon that included meeting a couple who had once been ACC members but let their membership lapse when they moved to Forster. During our talk, they indicated they would like to rejoin the ACC but only time will tell if that happens.
We joined the rest of our members for happy hour that concluded just before 6:00pm. “He” returned to the caravan to watch the China F1 Grand Prix, we have a Foxtel subscription and can stream content. We had a salad for our evening meal, watched Piastri win the Grand Prix and concluded our meal when Australian Survivor started on television.
During Australian Survivor, it commenced raining with the rain so heavy that we could not hear the television. The rain abated after 9:00pm but returned on an intermittent basis until we headed to bed. We had very heavy rain during the night that did wake us on several occasions.
