Our alarm sounded at 6:00am but we decided that a further 15 minutes in bed was appropriate. We had left the air conditioning running overnight and it had been turned off around 5:30am. This ensured we had a comfortable night.
As was the case with previous days, it had rained overnight with the evidence on our now exposed caravan entry step.
Planning to leave no later than 9:00am, our preparation for departure was for once, controlled and without the need to rush. Other than hitching the car, we were ready to depart at 8:30am so that gave us a little time to say our farewells.
Farewells completed and the caravan hitched, we departed the caravan park at 8:57am. The GPS indicated an arrival at home at 12:24pm.
Within a couple of kilometers of the caravan park, we were driving in rain. That rain continued randomly until just north of Raymond Terrace when our progress was impacted by a truck that was disabled just off the southern end of the Hexham Bridge. We crawled for several kilometers before we passed the stalled truck. We ran into a further delay in the Pennant Hills tunnel with the speed reduced to 40kph due to an accident.
We arrived home close to 12:55pm which gave us a travel time of 3 hour 58 minutes against an expected time of 3 hours 47 minutes. Overall, a quicker trip than planned.
It didn’t take long to place the caravan into our driveway and as we stopped, it started to rain. We decided to have lunch and then unpack when the rain stopped in the afternoon.
Overall, this was a good trip. The problems with the annexe were unfortunate but we were dry for the entire trip. This park is the best NRMA park we have stayed in with good amenities other than the fact that they are closed for cleaning anytime between 9am and 11am and again at 5pm to 7pm. Our savour was a single toilet located near the swimming pool that was cleaned outside of these hours.
